Omega Productions projects receive Dove Award Nominations

A recent Omega Productions video featuring award winning gospel artist Fred Hammond, has been nominated for a Dove Award in the “Best Long Form Music Video” category. In addition, a song from Malaco Records artist Dorothy Norwood’s Live CDDOROTHY NORWOOD PROJECT NOMINATED FOR  TRADITIONAL GOSPEL RECORDED SONG OF THE YEAR... by the same name, titled Ole Rickety Bridge, has also been nominated for “Traditional Gospel Recorded Song of the Year.” Paul Christensen and his wife Donna Christensen produced the live Norwood video and soundtrack which was used for the Malaco CD release. The Norwood project for Malaco Records was shot and recorded last year in Miami with the assistance of New Orleans based Director, Jerry Jacob.

The 32nd Annual Dove Awards will take place on Thursday, April 26, 2001 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, with a subsequent nationwide broadcast scheduled for the following Saturday, April 28, 2001 at 9 PM ET/PT, 8 PM CT/MT on Superstation WGN.

The Fred Hammond television special, produced by Paul and DonnaNOMINATED FOR URBAN & TRADITIONAL GOSPEL RECORDRD SONG OF THE YEAR Christensen, was recorded for Verity (Jive/Zomba) Records last year at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and featured Hammond, his innovative vocal ensemble Radical for Christ and Joe Pace and the Colorado Mass Choir. The project titled, Purpose by Design, was released last year in support of Hammond’s best selling CD by the same name and debuted as a nationwide Pay for View special.

Paul Wright III, Verity’s Grammy Award winning Director of Gospel who selected Omega for the project, served as overall Producer. In addition to Omega’s respected team of shooters, the ChrNOMINATED FOR CONTMPORARY GOSPEL ALBUM OF THE YEAR...istensens retained the services of nationally acclaimed music video Director Clark Santee, whose talent and years of experience greatly assisted in making the project an enormous success.

Hammond broke into the music mainstream with his multi-platinum album Pages of Life Chapters I & II, which featured portions of the soundtrack from Omega’s 1997 video by the same name. His follow-up album, Purpose By Design was released last year and went immediately to #1 on the Billboard Gospel Charts. The album provides a message of hope, celebration and joy, through the smooth gospel grooves and funky beats that Fred Hammond fans have grown to love.

Joining Wright, Hammond and Santee on the project was Ray Hammond who served as Live Event Producer. MULTI-PLATINUM PAGES OF LIFE, CHAPTERS I & IIThe Christensen’s also tapped Grammy winning Recording Engineer, Guy Charbonneau and his legendary Le Mobile remote facility to superviseHAMMOND AND FRIENDS SCHEDULED TO PERFORM AT 32ND ANNUAL DOVE AWARDS... the live soundtrack. The award winning Omega crew was again on the scene, and included Jerry Jacob, Mike Filippi, Don Warren, Steve Cobb, Stuart Cane, Curt Casassa, Ruthel Flunder, Scott McClain, Randy Farrow and a host of others. Veteran Lighting Director Mark “Miyagi” Meana provided the cutting edge concert look rounding out a memorable evening. Las Vegas based Century Productions provided remote television facilities, with assistance from owner, Mike Levy.

Multi-Grammy award winner Michael W. Smith, who has won 25 Dove Awards, will host the broadcast along with performances by Yolanda Adams, Avalon, Rachael Lampa, Mary Mary, Donnie McClurkin, Point of Grace, Third Day and Jaci 2001 DOVE AWARDS SHOW TO FEATURE  RADICAL FOR CHRIST...Velasquez, to name a few.
